"Body of Water" (1.28.2021)
Jamale J. Jones
May your Captain navigate to where you are
Never allow the storms to keep him blind to where you’ve been
As if your growth somehow became a life of pain entwined in sin…
Never mask waves of emotions, so deep the tides cannot rescind
You want someone who understands your depth
Someone to wade beyond the shallow ends
Where have you been? Why have you hurt?
What makes your heart beat with suspense?
What do you love? What do you hate?
How do you view the days you live?
What would it take to swim inside your waters?
To explore the world noone has reached…
To sacrifice everything that makes him man…
So he can breathe forever underneath?
Too many days are lost in loneliness
Tsunamis caused from roaming grief
you’re just trying to find a captain
Who loves you for more than just your sea...
But even when that moment happens
He’s combating years of broken dreams…
Broken hearts, lies and hurt…
So many barriers to breach…
You fell for hurricanes of love…
The storms would set, and abruptly leave…
You ask the winds to lead a heart unto you…
When it comes, you fear it’s just another breeze…
May a Captain raise his mast and sail
Until he sinks within your being
Because you just want to find a Captain
Who loves you for more than just your seas.
May your Captain find you
To treasure your heart, and all its riches
May his compass mark the spot intended,
The center mass of all your swells
He’ll walk the plank and fall within it…
They say it’s hell to love someone…
Because a broken heart will be the ending…
But In life or death someone is loss…
It’s what we find that keeps us living...
And if that Horizon takes forever…
May your Captain continue swimming
